One is the ECU and the other is the EZK. I would keep them together and just swap both to see if it works.

My friend is to bring the computer with him tomorrow from the 88. The bank has "lost" my cheque and money-my atty is attempting to find out whats going on.
I have been OVER PAYING MY X IN CHILD SUPPORT SINCE MY CAR ACCIDENT AND NOTHING WAS DONE ABOUT IT. ALL THAT HAS HAPPENED WAS I GOT POORER. IT WAS NEVER DEALT WITH UNTIL I WITHHELD CHILD SUPPORT FOR 3 MONTHS. FINALLY THE ATTENTION CAME TO FRUITION. SHE HAS BEEN OVER-PAYED THOUSANDS OF $ AND IN THE MEANTIME THEY PUT A HOLD ON MY BANK ACCOUNT. THEY SCREWED UP. NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW WHERE THE CASH WENT FROM MY ACCOUNT. I HAVE BILLS TO PAY AND RENT TO GIVE.
RENT IS DUE TOMORROW AND THIS IS WHY I HAD TO SELL MY CAR AND PERHAPS SEEM IMPATIENT WITH THINGS. WHAT A MESS!
MY bud is to come tomorrow for the vehicle and I am desperate to sell this jewel(awful).
I have in trust over $400k. which I cannot touch from a house sale. Paid off by yours truly.
The x is waiting waiting. She does not have much money but everyone else gives her a handout, even for her lawyer. She is waiting till I fold!

So this is why I need to know where EXACTLY that god damn computer is!

The Brown wires

Does anyone know what the two taped brown wires hanging down in the photo of the ECU/EZK are for? Also what happens when you connect them? Been dealing with idle problems on my 86 928s, was testing the temp 2 sensor and then checked the fuses, i notice the two wires hanging there apart with no tape and connected them, when i went to start it back up it wouldn't run, I rechecked all the fuses again just in case, then un plugged the brown wire, car still wouldn't start back up, replaced the temp 2 sensor, still no start. It idled high after getting warm but was running before this.

Those are for changing octane. I believe it changes the timing.

If the ICV/IAV is original, it probably needs replacing.

They may last 80K or so miles, but they wear out internally and cannot be repaired.

Have already replaced ICV, and new intake gaskets, new injector rings, new vacuum lines. Im hoping that the temp 2 sensor will finally correct the idle problem, now there is a no start problem that happened

Sorry to hear this Mike, My Older Brother went through the same, great business ruined, lost 3/4 of million in equipment plus his home on the Brandywine River and barely starting over at 46. You're not alone.
