electrical wierdness in my 84 928S
While looking for an interior switched 12 volt power lead for an accessory..( Ive chosen the unused cigarette lighter).. Ive noticed this accessory as well as the windows are intermittently only functioning when the key is turned on. Then other times they will work without the key even being in the ignition!! bizarre!! whats going on here??

Some normally key on items have power until a door is opened.
Other things may be due to bad wiring, bad grounds, etc. You can get a circuit where a device that is supposed to have power is connected to something else at a common ground point (thats bad) so current flows through the second device from the bad ground to a different ground point.

my radio was doing some crazy stuff as well---roll the right side window up, no sound from any speaker. roll it down, radio works (sound from speakers)-----cause? speaker wiring on right door was being chewed up by the window mechanism, because PO put in speakers with huge magnets that were also being chewed up by same window mechanism and the wiring just got caught up in the same actions.
with these cars and their accumulated age, not to mention their often suspect history, there is no what is going on with any of them.........
