I want to order some touch up paint for chips and scratches but can't seem to find color codes on my 81 928 looked inside drivers door and under hood just not seeing it obviously its red but is it guard red or venus red http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1377532047.jpg

Aged red paint is hard to match 'cos it fades. When you find out what it should be, try these guys: Touch Up Paint from PaintScratch.com

81 is tricky, there are 2 different variants for the 928, this is a change over year for colors across a few models
both are code 027,
india red G8G8
guards red G8V9

looking at it, hard to tell due to light, I'd lean toward the guards red... india tends to be darker, especially as it fades

that is also my thought I did find what seemed to be conflicting info about the paint codes for this year thanks

it is an '81, go over to your local dealer and have the service dept run you a build sheet, color should be on there
