928S/4 cooling fan

My 1987 928 cooling fan, one of two, is not working. Not sure yet if it is electrical supply problem or not.
If this unit needs replacement are the OEM replacements the usual repair, or does it make more sense to upgrade to fans with more CFM. This is a street car located on the central part of the east coast in Delaware.
Also any advice on method for replacement would be greatly appreciated

The fan output stage is failing. There are ways to fix it but it is easily destroyed on disassembly.

Whoa! We have no idea what is wrong....

It could be one fan is dead, did you check the fuses already? or it could be the output stage...

Since the remedy options are very different between these- it would be best to figure it out first.

If the fans are OK and its the driver you have one set of options - if the driver is OK and a fan is dead you have another set...

First thing I did was to check fuses. Using the on board check in the fuse box. Hope it is reliable. Not sure where the out put stage is located. Could you help with location and diagnosis
thanks Donald
