87 FPR for 1986.5
Had an ultimate goal of a Porken Chip Upgrade, and have been working my way down the list of recommendations prior to that upgrade.
I was looking for an 87 fuel pressure regulator today, and I did not realize how hard they were to find now (i.e. expensive--currently listed at $1500.00 at 928 intl.). Mr. Tyson told me he had been using some '88 regulators with some modifications. Has anyone done this lately and share their experience or advice? I have went through some of the old threads here. My understanding is that the 87 FPR has a higher pressure capacity. Does one have to change the dampers as well? Thanks.

only swap in a new FPR,
as an aside you could install an adjustable FPR. the dampers will not be touched but should be checked for fuel leaking into the vacuum lines.

Porkens chip set wants the pressure relation of the S4 regulator and 87 has fittings compatible with the 85/86 cars, but Greg Brown sells a new hose that allows the use of newer fuel regulators.
If you plan to use Porkens chips, talk to Porken about which you need and why for the best latest answer. |
