Broken Speedometer needle.
I had the no odometer issue in the top repair items list. As I was replacing the gear, I bent the speedometer needle. I straightened it mostly, and it was working ok. I went 16 miles with the odometer working. I filled up with gas and reset the trip odometer and everything quit working again. I got home and took everything apart again trying to figure out what happened. I made sure I was careful about the speedometer needle. Somehow I snapped the tachometer needle! I'm frustrated for today to say the least. I've spent the last three hours hunting for new needles with no luck. Please, does someone out there have a way to get two of the VDO 2 " needles. I don't want to have to buy two new gauges just for a needle issue. I'd appreciate any help.

Buy a spare similar VDO based cluster, not necessarily 928, and use a watch repair tool to remove the needle to swap it.
or Check with the local instrument repair shop, I would guess they have boxes of new or used bits. |

Palo Alto Speedo has two spare needles for $35 a piece. They should be shipped out later this week. Now let's see if I can keep the odometer working...
