Odd, not really good odd IMHO. 25 year old fiberglass kit cars aren't worth $150k to me. Motor looks like a early one, single cam per tower, and using stock iron exhausts, so highly doubting 345 hp.
Maybe it floats somebody elses boat. |

That is incredibly cool. Love how the cam tower shows out the side along with the sprocket.
Auction photos are stunning, I can't imagine the amount of work that went into the body let alone details like the carb setup on the engine. I wonder if it looked the same back in '88...hoping to find a scanned copy of one of those Street Rodder issues.

I've seen pics of that car before and absolutely love the execution! Build quality appears amazing as well. That being said....
Gotta agree with Danglerb on the overly optimistic pricing and HP numbers. |

I don't think I would call that a "kit car". Whole different connotation about that term than what is seen here. I would prefer steel over fiberglass but 25 years ago there were not 10 or more companies cranking out '32 Ford parts in steel......unlike today....and I agree with others, even though someone spent far more than $150k (in equivalent 1988 money to have this built) it would be highly unusual for the car to fetch $150k right now....market is soft on replica cars, generally speaking.....

If I had the money, and actually bought it, with my luck, a bird or badger, or something would hit the cam tower / sprocket and destroy the engine on the first drive.

That thing would be miserable to drive, its strictly trailer and show.
Perhaps my view is harsh, but feels to me like a "lets see what we can make out of some random leftover parts" on a rainy day type project. |

Jeez Mike^ that's some serious work.
It may be more 928 than we know and may ride very nice. Very impressed. It is nice to see something different. I couldn't find it on ebay, i was hoping to see more detail pics. Link?

First sentence of first post, click the word "this".
I'd like to hear about its history. I wonder if it started off life in '88 and racked up nearly 60K miles since then? The engine and fuel system is a work of art. Just those four custom made mini intake manifolds couldn't have been easy to create 25 years ago.

I think they basically lost me when the signature spider intake was replaced with some carbs. |

Just looked at "this" WOW.
Mike that thing is so light and is very well engineered. I'll bet it rides and handles nearly as well as any of our 928s. Outstanding build. WORTH EVERY PENNY of $149K in my book. Only thing i would add would be a polished metal bezel of some sort around the fiberglass instrument pod. Center lock wheels, wow. It would easily cost this to build.

Maybe I could like it more if I had never seen a VW Thing.

this machine goes a lot farther than any VW drop on body project.
I guess that people that know how to make things can appreciate a project like this one. I think it looks great and was well thought out. The seats remind me of the rear 928 seats.

Pretty much a work of art IMO. Extremely well done in the frame and suspension. Cell phone looks a bit dated!??? No kiddin' huh? That aside I do wonder how it is titled and in what state? Might make a big difference if someone bought it intending to drive it....seems unusual they would keep the miles from the original 928 odometer and the car itself does not suggest it has been driven any significant number of miles in its current state....oh well, I can't afford it in any event....

Love this also, very nicely done.
This got me thinking. My current '29 A project has a SBC, in it, but a L-Jet 928 mated to the hydramatic transmission would be an interesting project....

My question would be: is the motor a 4.7L euro S motor, or a 4.5L euro non S? I believe both were running 10:1 compression ratios. If it is a 4.7 S motor I might buy the 345HP.

I've built my share of street rods & musclecars...and, this is a beautiful build. A lot of creativity and I'm sure a ton of work went into this. I'm diggin' it. In the next couple years, I'm planning on building a '32, 3-Window, and as much as I like getting creative, I'll use my '53 flathead engine & tranny (which I already have)...I just want my build to be "retro", and I love Flatheads.... but, I have to admit, this is pretty darn cool.
I like it when people do things against the grain, as long as it's done well, and with class. To me, this is what the street rodding hobby is all about! Taking an old car, and getting creative! You see a million street rods with small block, or big block Chevy & Ford engines, (which is great) but, this is really cool. As for the HP numbers....eh' I doubt he's pushin' 345HP, but, who am I to say?
