Gorgeous looking GTS, though I must admit, that color does look awfully familiar? Now I would have to assume your interior color is blue? But ahhh, how nice it is to have the ole manual transmission, eh? Over the years, I've had several '93-'95 5 speed GTS's myself, and they really are the best of the best of the 928, especially the GTS 5 speeds. Anyway, I wish you the very best with your sale, but one last question first; why in the hell are you selling that beautiful car in the first place again?

Todd

P.S. You may want to "white out" your front license plate as you did your rear........

He's selling it because he's partially retarded. At least we keep telling him that.

The back plate wasn't whited out for the normal reason. It was a rather unusual plate that I didn't want to hear the expected comments on. Quite different than the front plate shown in the photo. Never mind, long story.

I've never understood why people bother to white out their plates. Perhaps their reasons are as odd as mine.

Hmmm. Let's hope not!

Luck to you as well,

that car is beautiful - it looks like the car that adorns the cover of the Road & Track 928 book...It is a very simialr color to mine as well (mine's Iris blue).

I'm pretty sure Iris Blue is much darker. BTW, I love Iris Blue.

Actually, it isn't that dark at all (I tried to upload a pic of my car, but not sure if it will work ) ... anyway, look at my avatar on the other list, and you'll see the color - just like the color of the GTS pictured above....See you at SITM Fabio?

Ed,

Here are most of the blues in question, taken courtesy of the 928 Registry:

Iris Blue:

http://www.928registry.org/1994-928GTS-0151.htm

Horizon Blue:

http://www.928registry.org/1993-928GTS-early-5061.htm

Cobalt Blue:

http://www.928registry.org/1993-928GTS-early-34.htm

Tahoe Blue:

http://www.928registry.org/1993-928GTS-early-16.htm

Cobalt is my personal favorite, though some of them are pretty damn close to each other. Hope this helps. And thanks to Chuck for the Registry listings.

Todd

Todd - not sure that that Registry color is correct. My door jamb label (original and unmolested) lists "irisbleu metallic" with a paint code of 33P. Also, the paint codes for all years are listed at 928 Specialist site, http://www.928gt.com/t-928paint.aspx, and there is no iris blue for the '94....

That's interesting, because to me it looks identical to the Cobalt Blue car, which means it's probably Cobalt and not Iris Blue for the '94. Your thoughts?

Todd - try the 928 International site - it is even better for the color/year descriptions (in fact, the iris blue was only offered in 1986; there are other slight variations of that light blue shade offered in other model years)....here's the link, then just click thru: http://www.landsharkoz.com/colourstart.htm

looking at the paint colors in the link above, there was an iris blue pearl blue, code 39N in the 93-95 year range - so it looks like Porsche made a different shade or perhaps more accurately, blend, of "iris blue" in those years. The "irisblau metallic" was unique to the 86's however...

Sean your post about selling because of a mental disorder made me laugh and then the response made me laugh even MORE! You guys are GREAT!

As for Iris blue... Well, the early Iris blues are a touch darker than Horison... They are inline with Hel (light) blue.

The later Iris blue (as in '94 928 GTS's, of which I have seen probably SIX in that color) is MUCH darker. Way darker even than Cobalt... REALLY pretty color w/ a touch of purple in it I think! Very, VERY nice!

Irisblue metallic from Ed, was NOT unique to '86's. I have an uncle who had an Iris blue '84 911 Cab... As I noted, almost just like Horizon...a touch darker is all! Helblau metallic a touch darker still.

In the 928 it was unique to the 1986...I have seen it on other P-car models of different years as well.

You should have been at 3rd coast this past time. Imagine all of us, beer, wine and Randy with a 5th of Rum.

Sean, you are sweet but still a dingus. Randy wouldn't drink rum to save his life. What few brain cells are left reject all but Scotch. Rum indeed!

Ed,
I forgot how stupid Porsche is w/ their color stuff and how some models are not available in some colors but others are. They freaking have the paint already, just paint the damn car the color the customer wants w/o A$$ raping him on the price! Freaking Porsche!

So, while the light Iris blue may well have been a special color for 928's in '86 it was a factory stock color on 911's in '84... That is what I should have said I guess!

James
