Marvel Mystery Oil
I was working on my Jeep CJ5. I did a compression test and one Cyl was only reading 95 PSI, so I put a few Oz. of the Marvel in the plug hole and let it sit a few days. I did another test and it went up to 150. I drove the Jeep and it seems to be running better and I will do another compression test later. Have any of you guys ever used Marvel Mystery Oil? Your experiences with it?

I have used it for many years...put a little in gas or oil regularly. Used it in #30's cylinders before her first crank, used it to free a rusty seized engine in a Z car and a lawnmower, good schtuff!

Smells nice too. Walmart has the pint sized bottles cheap, which I pour into various spray type bottles.
In the oil and gas routinely, but mostly I spray it right on the trouble. |

I did another compression test on my old Jeep today. I have put maybe 75 miles on it since I checked it last week. Cyl 5 had read 95 PSI before I put the Marvel oil in the plug hole, Today it read 135!!! Quite an improvement. This stuff seems to do the job. I know this is not a Porsche but it may be of some use in our old 928's.

I let the Marvel sit about a day, the longer the better. I then turned the engine over with plugs still out. This will blow out any excess oil. Only put an ounce or so in the cylinders. I then installed the plugs and drove the car maybe 100 miles or so and took another compression test.

Before I cranked my 928 for the once time, I put an oz in each cylinder and let it set for a week until I replaced fuel line, fuel pump and spark plugs. Car turned on 10 seconds flat. first time in 10 years, that stuff is good for everything mechanical and it burns off fine.

Marvel Mystery Oil is a great Brake In Oil by the way . on a rebuild It's very good to add some to the gas ( the more the better ) if it smokes some during that tank then you know you have enough. some more in the next tank is also good .
Regrading oil in the cylinders for freeing up or the like > this well also load the valve guides and clean them at the same time |
