Headlight Lock-down
I have asked the question before but never got a response. When I happen to hit a pretty hard bump in the road, my drivers side headlight pops up slightly. All I have to o is push it back into the lowered position.
Does anyone know of, or have a picture of the parts that hold the headlight mechanism secure in the lowered position. I have not been able to identify what needs to be tightened, or adjusted. |

If you take off the wheel and the splash shield you will be able to see the mechanism - its basically just a spring detent tab. Either the spring is weak - or the frame/hinge is misaligned or the headlamp never really seats fully due to some obstruction. I'd bet the latter is the most likely.
Loose wiring bunched under the headlamp carrier (the folding base of the headlamp pod) will stop it from bottoming out. This will mean it's never fully locked in. This mechanism is intended to save your hands if they are ever in the way when the pod rotates down - it rotates up quite forcefully - on the downswing any excessive force will detach the pod from the motor driven arm - allowing you to keep your hand... It should be clear when you get in there - its awkward to work on but not particularly difficult. Alan
