87 S4. Motor out. things to do?

Hey all,
Finally getting to the 928, while working a resurrection of the 968.

928= Engine is out.
Going to do:
Intake refresh, MM, OPG, Steering rack rebuild, TB/WP with new Cam gears, Injectors to Witch Hunter, Powder coat.

Questions for today. The While your in there items. Specifically, with the oil pan down.

I got the Cam covers, Fuel Rails off with no issues. Hope my good fortune continues.


I will most likely do suspension items, wiring harness rebuild.

Use extreme caution with the powder coat. Too many people get a great looking powder coat with a tiny bit of abrasive "glued" someplace inside the intake, and few months later the bit comes loose and the engine is toast.

Depending on age and history I might consider replacing a lot of thing that are hard to do with engine in.

Never mind, Thrust bearing is waaaaaayyyyyy out. Engine is toast!!
