I need to replace the underhood insulation on my 85S. I am not sure of the best way to do this. any ideas? best tools to use? etc. etc.

Remove the hood (mark the hinges first). Use PB Blaster to remove the glue. Then clean well. There are several places you can buy a replacement hood liner. I bought mine from some shop here in Michigan, it was made of some aircraft foam and you could get a Porsche logo if you wish. I used contact cement from Lowes to stick the new liner on. Believe it or not, the PB Blaster does cut the stock glue, it works! The contact cement is used for counter top laminate. You might be able to do this with the hood on, but much better to remove it and place on a nice padded table to remove, clean and apply the new hood liner.

Absolutely, there's more than one way to do it. I just remembered that Dwayne had documented his approach.
I understand 928s R Us has the original waffle pattern pad available and I think it's self stick. Hugo

I forget the place I bought mine from, but it was a Leather Shop here in Michigan, He has custom cut liners made of aircraft material. I would go with this instead of the stock product. This is it: classic9leathershop.com

+1 on calling Robb Budd at Classic 9. His product is superior to stock OEM IMHO.
Plus, he's a real nice guy.
