Console problems from previous owners

No radio when I got it (previous owner said it was stolen) and a hack job from the butcher brigade when an AM one was put in. Looks like they happened to change the stock radio in the '80's when it required them to carve out the biggest rectangular opening they could make in the console. Lots of damage. The heater-A/C controls have suffered (I only have Defrost and fan only works on high), spliced wires, etc. I did find a small harness stuffed under the ash tray which has a black plastic round connector (looks like half of a fuse holder) with a set screw and red wire/black stripe. With it are two small solid plastic black square connectors (w. one flat prong, one round) one has red wire/black stripe and brown wire, the other two brown wires, one with white stripe. Also one brown wire, one white wire which are both cut. What did they go to?
There are two rectangular metal boxes on the tunnel hump (under the middle heater vent) and the larger one (towards the shifter) has a receptacle with no connector and hole at the passenger side that looks like it is for the antenna. It also has a copper wound coil looking thing on the back driver side with two red/white striped wires. One wire had melted insulation going into the harness. Was it a signal booster?

Lots of early model owners here to help, not me though, pictures will make things more clear.

You will need a set of shop manuals with wiring diagrams, check on CD from Roger at ************

This is known as "magic blower syndrome" It doesn't necessarily have to do with your controls but more likely the resistor under the cowling by the wiper motor. Do a search here and you should more than you ever wanted to know about it. :)

The the fan on mine was the same but once I had freed up the heater wire and could move it off defrost the fan worked normally, something about the earlier cars that the fan goes to high when heater control is set to defrost :)
