928 S4 - remove from Storage
 

I purchased an 87 928S4 a year ago. I have stored it in a garage in AZ over the past 12 mos. and plan to get it out. What concerns must I look after in doing so? This is my first 928.
I need to replace the battery, the timing belt was in excellent shape b4 storage & I plan to have it checked, tires, oil/filter change, fuel was conditioned (should be ok, right?)

owned a 951 & 986 back in IL and had stored them over winter, but never for more than 3 mos. at a time.

When you start it up you will find out. Year old fuel may be a problem even with stabilizer in it. If it starts, run it, get some fresh gas, add a bottle of Techron to the tank and drive it!

I agree with Harborman, charge the battery fully or replace it if it won't take a charge and start it up. I've bought cars that are 10 years old and they start right up without clacking. Just make sure you run out the gas as soon as possible and replace with high test. Brakes might make some noise if they got rusty but they will clean themselves up in a couple of miles.

replace all the rubber fuel lines from tank to injectors before you do anything. Kits are available at reasonable prices from our normal vendors.

I would find out if the car runs first. But the fuel lines can be an issue. My car had the originals up until two years ago when I changed them. As we all know, these cars need attention to keep them running properly.

For the most part all timing belts look good until some other part of the belt path fails and they break. People looking to sell a car often fail to replace parts that are more than marginal depending on price. Timing belt $35, rest of the parts $1200..

Thank you all, the car fired right up with a new battery and after a few miles, seems to be running normal. I am working to enjoyably run out the old fuel
