Official 1982 "Great White" revival thread

Well, I couldn't resist, and jumped into another project. Many of you know that my original plans for #30 were to paint her white, and change the interior to cork. After meeting several of you for the first time at SITM 2012, I was convinced to go original with her. #30 is moving along at a snails pace. She is running like a top at the moment, and I am working on dash / electrical.

So I stumbled across this poor girl on Craigslist. Cool, I thought, a white 928, then I saw the pics....5 speed, cork interior...holy crap! That's what I want! Then I saw the price...woah....that's cheap, must be a wreck. Called the guy.....it's a runner...a poor runner, but a runner none the less. Worked out a deal, sent a deposit, then waited a week until I could go get her. Turned out it took 6 hours one way. Made it back in 5, not counting the nasty BBQ lunch stop. It was in NC, 25 minutes from Virginia Beach.

First pics are in the other thread, but will eventually land here. Here she is coming home....

Here she is after I had a few minutes to play with her before I drove her into the operating room.

Cool project, congrats!

Look up Car Bone Liveries on Facebook... last I saw, they had all new paint color decals and some others.

Weird, on my 78, it goes the opposite direction, to the air filter housing. On the 82, looks like it goes to the throttle body vacuum port? I dunno, but the pic is pretty clear as to where it goes!

Got the front fuel damper reinstalled. I happened to just have all the replacement hard lines except the small "s" shaped one, that is missing a section..(why PO, why? ) I will swedge a new piece of steel and silver braze it back together...now I need the lines to go from the firewall to the hard lines.

Now that is always the $64,000 question: "why PO, why?" LOL

Ron, why don't you just post what you need and see if anybody has those parts lying around? It might save you a bit of work and time.

Just a thought.

I have the complete LH injection system off the 82. I was thinking to keep it in case I want to switch at some point. Considering my cis appears to be healthy am an early car should probably keep closer to original I am thinking it is going to just take up space.

Tlister, I'll pm you tonight. Still learning this new fangled electronic system...the k-jet on #30 is so easy. Is L-jet, and LH the same thing?

I only lack the (1) hard line. I can braze it in a few minutes, so no biggie. Going to do it tonight after dinner with my girls, as their mom is on ladies night out! (Crazy school teachers).

No expert but I would guess Ljet is more forgiving and better mileage. More likely to break down as it is old electronics. If you can cover shipping and any packing I might need I'll send whatever you think you might need.
