Sunroof Repair Solution
Finding the sunroof operating erratically and not closing at times, I thought with dread I'd have to get into its mechanism. Playing around with the switch on the center console, I discovered the roof can operate properly if the switch was pressed in a certain way. Taking the switch out revealed corrosion on the contact points. Cleaning the contacts with very fine grit sandpaper then treating them with dielectric grease did the trick. Now the roof opens and closes as intended and I avoided disassembling the sunroof. Just thought I'd pass that tip on.

Glad you found the easy fix first...it sometimes doesn't happen that way. Folks read so many horror stories about these sunroofs...that they sometimes by-pass the easy stuff.
Nice reminder...that it's not always as bad as it can be. Brian. |
