Alarm

When I first start my car, the dash shows "Stop lamp" warning. My windows will not operate. Once I press the brake peddle, the "Stop Lamp" warning goes out and everything works. I checked and I do have both stop lights. Does anyone else have this appear upon initial start up?

Stop Lamp is supposed to light up after you start and go out after pressing the brake pedal. Owner's manual explains it.

I did have to go out just now and try the power windows while the light is on and they work fine.
There can't be any logical reason to lock out the windows over a brake light issue. It would suck if you really did have a brake light fail and couldn't operate your windows.

Possibly just part of the self test on the '86 model and someone with the same year can test theirs and chime in?

I did replace the light check computer as mine did not work when I got the car. I think it was in that little pod behind the foot rest on drivers side floor.
