New Rims and tires...but do they fit???
Ok, so I know that this has been well a debated topic and perhaps it should just die...but I have a lead on some 993 Technology rims with good rubber...and they are a good price...and even though I was going to hold out and wait, save my nickels and purchase something in the more sensible 17" range...well I can't help myself...Question is will these rims and tires fit without adjustments and if so what would the recommended adjustments be? front- 8" rim with 235/40/R18, rear- 10" rim with 265/35/R18...and over to the forum...

oh...I should mention that the offset on the front 8" wheels is 52 and the rear offset is 65 on the 10" wheels ...and I'll admit that oddest has always been somewhat of a mystery to me.

these wheels will fit,
the rear wheels may have the tire rubbing on the inner sidewall when traversing driveways, so 17mm bolt on bolt on spacers could be implemented

The fronts should fit. I have that same 8" width and ET52 offset on my front.
On the rear, o don't think that offset will fit. I have 10" with ET52 offset and 275tire. There is only about 10mm gap to the fender. I think you would be cutting it very close. ![]() http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/10/30/cd814a0d6dd6393ebde2065c49a2b67d.jpg[/IMG] If you are interested I do have a set of 993 cup 2 wheels/tires available in the correct size and offset for 928 ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I think Mike is confused,
the rear wheels with a 65 ET will fit fine, and you can probably add 17mm spacers to push the tires out to the wheel well fender lips. NOTE the lower the ET the further outwards the edge of the tire side wall will be, so an ET of about 45 will not require spacers, and also considering tire width, and the wheel tire edges will be running very close to the outer fender wells in the rear. an ET of 65 is the stock ET for the 928 both front and back. Remember that the rear wheels deflect upwards and inwards at the tops of the tire when the wheel compresses. to figure out the correct spacer for the rear , install the wheel tire package, roll the car to settle the suspension. Then measure the top edge of the tire at the rear outer fender well lip use the side that has the least number then subtract 5MM from this number, this is the spacer thickness that you can use to move the wheel out from the centerline of the car. NOTE to increase the fender well clearance, use both hands with thick leather gloves, place both hands next to each other, then gently pull the fender lip outwards, the metal will bend out slightly

Thanks Merlin. I hope that I will not have to roll the rear fenders but we'll see. I currently have a set of 22mm bolt on bolt spacers on the rear with the stock 16 inch manhole covers...kinda hoping that they will work with the 18" rims but that may be asking too much. In truth I'm more concerned about the fit of the front wheels as they have the non standard 52 ET offset. So for the moment the more pressing concern will be what size spacer I will require for the front...if any. But as winter is soon to be upon me here in northern British Columbia I will park "Olga" this week with the 16"s on and spend the winter researching and speculating on the fit and look of the new 18's.

as a general rule you will never use spacers on the front of a 928 and you should not use wheels with an ET of less than 50 on the front

That's interesting...Dave at Wheel Enhancement recommended that I use a small spacer ( like 5-7 mm) both front and rear...although he also recommended I go with a 225/40/RZ18 for the front, which I was planning to do as the 235's are worn. I can't see that there will be room for the spacer in the front without the rubber sticking out of the wheel well. So I'm gonna go with no spacer in the front with 225's and try the 22mm spacer in the rear with the 265's....Thanks Merlin
