I am trying to restore my dad's '85 928S Euro that has been in my family since it was first brought to the States. Most things have been done and worked out pretty much as expected, but we have a new issue that before I dive in with all new parts I was hoping someone here could point out a good direction.
For the longest time the ABS light would come on intermittently. We changed the relay and then removed each sensor and flushed tons of crap out. All the sensors where put back in, none were replaced, yet. Before this was done the brakes stopped fine, no ABS usually but they worked well. Now there is a lot of feedback in the brake pedal, the stopping distance is terrible and when you slam them the left front and right rear wheels lock. Sensors? Module? Both? Thanks, Erik ![]() |

Not sure what you mean by FEEDBACK in the Pedal ? Enplane :
Sound like sticking Pistons in the Calipers perhaps and Air in the System . You well read many different bleeding Instructions and they well very . bleed the brakes like this After finding the proper size wrench / Socket to open close the Bleeder valve attach a Small rubber hose to Bleeder down to a Coke sized bottle submerged in some brake fluid at the bottom . Motor running with assistant start with DRIVERS SIDE FRONT ***** DRIVERS SIDE FRONT ***** (1) Open Valve Brake Pedal Down and Hold > Close Valved then brake pedal up Repeat several times until no AIR BUBBLES show in Fluid Bottom of Bottle . (2) Fill Master Cylinder after each wheel Bleed . (3) Passenger Sided Front same as above (4) Drivers side Rear same as above (5) Passenger side Rear same as above NOTE : If you forget to fill the Master Cylinder and the Fluid runs out you must start all over . Many well say start with the rear > this is incorrect always start with closest to Master Cylinder and work away . Now if the pedal does not hold firm or slowly go's to floor Most Likely you need a Master Cylinder. I would buy a Gallon of Brake Fluid and Bleed Brakes until Fluid runs Clean / Clear . Is possible the Calipers are sticky but should free up with Good Fluid . Walmart has brake Fluid BTW Last edited by aluminum; 03-20-2016 at 06:08 PM.. |

I agree with most of the above instructions but I would add some info.
First gravity bleed the MC , do this by cracking open the line nuts one at a time , look for air bubbles to come out with the fluid start at the base and work to the tip, if your new MC has a tip bleeder use it. For fluid I will always recommend to use ATE gold brake fluid, its made for your expensive brake system , most of the our vendors sell this. NOTE mixing in other brands is a recipe for damaging the seals of the ATE MC and the flex lines and the caliper seals
