Has Anyone Put A 89 Engine IN 86 Car ?
I have installed a 89 engine and harness and the computers in a 86 car I have it all in except I know that there is some changes that need to be made to the harness to make it work but I am not sure what. I would like to know if anyone else has done this and if they can help I would really appreciate it. Rob.

The wiring is going to be a pain. For the aggravation I would find a s3 engine. I have a spare (s3 86.5) with wiring harness if you're interested. Honestly it's easier to wire a chevy 5.3l then the s4 engine.

You need the wiring diagrams for both model years and document all the changes, then make them. It was a major revision for the 928, but in practical terms very little power differences once you put good chips in the early car.
My best advice, sell the S4 engine and computers and get the correct motor, time and dollars ahead. |

I bought it from a guy on rennslist. I ran it for a little bit. Wanted more power so I went chevy swap. I sent you PM.
If you have a manual car, I would talk you into a chevy swap. It's around 2 grand for a chevy 5.3 from a truck when it's all said and done. You can cam it, and do rockers and it'll bump up the HP to just under 400. Price for HP you really cannot beat these engines, it's astonishing. Wiring is KISS.
