Stan,
Did the hot vat cause you to need 4 additional pistons? or did it just clean the ones you had enough that you could see you needed all 8?

I got a new used set and they were covered with carbon,
so i took them to the hot tank at the machine shop it ate the zinc iron coating off in spots. I should have just been soaking them in the simple green it takes a longer time but the carbon does come off

Damn. Sorry to hear that. That must be some kind of nasty chemical in that hot vat!!
I'm keeping my eyes and ears open for you. Good Luck!

Stuff like that would make me just buy a good 5.0 short block.

I would absolutely source a 5.0L short block if it was my car and I was planning on keeping it.
But Stan is in a different place than most of us on this forum! ![]()

Stan, Is there something special about 85 Euro pistons?
For example, would pistons from an '83 Euro work? I know that an 84 Euro is basically the same engine, but would those pistons work? There were more 84 Euros brought into this country than 85 Euros. If those pistons would work for you, it would substantially broaden the population of cars you have to choose from. In addition, I'm sure that our normal parts suppliers are on the lookout for some 85 Euro pistons, but maybe these might be something better sourced overseas? Australia/Japan/U.K. ?
