Of all the many projects I've done to my 1984 928 in 12 years of ownership the two that I can say I am most proud are:
1. Replacing all the rubber fuel lines including fuel injector hoses. After seeing a widely shown picture of a 928 in full flames I decided it was a good idea to check mine out. They were rotted and ready to break without much more than banging into them while changing out spark plugs. Wasn't that expensive DIY and makes you feel a lot more comfortable going out for a drive.
2. Changing out my a/c compressor and drier. Owners think that only a highly skilled A/C shop with expensive tools and equipment could do this work but it's not that hard if you go slowly and carefully. You can borrow the vacuum pump from autozone or even buy one from harbor freight.

I bought a "good" 85 Euro motor that leaked down at over 50%. I did a complete rebuild of the engine. My only other experience was a Brigg and Stratton in high school. Factory manual and patience go a long way. I have about 30k miles on it since.

I have brought back to life 3 928 cars and this is my 4th one I'm working on now has got to be the worse. 1980 with 75k that picked up for 400.00 . It was sitting for 2 yrs outside under a tree. The guy had a alarm 3 kill switches,3 sets of horns radar , cb radio, aftermarket radio amps subwoofers. The car was a mess it took me 3 days to rip out all the wires. I had 15 pounds of wires.
3 weeks later I got the car running but still have to do interior and go over all electrical

On my '84 928:
-Tracking down the source of my 8 month intermittent starting issue being a faulty fuel injection relay.
-Repairing the rear hatch release mechanism with a new plastic insert.
-Converting the ac to 134-A.
-Finding the source of a no start condition being the neutral safety switch.
-Cleaning the switch contacts on the center console so the power windows and sunroof would operate correctly.
