1980 Petrol Blue
Hi all, just wanted to introduce a new OB in the Boston area. Interesting car. Very unmolested and interesting spec with no moulding and no rear wiper. Car runs great and I’m in the middle of tweaking it and driving it. So far I’ve changed the rear hatch mechanism to get a tight close, fresh oil, and brake pads.

Stunning combo I think. I'm sure we would love to see more pics! Hope to see it out on the road too, congrats.

![]() ![]() Tool kit is complete, mostly original paint except the hood. I replaced the original radio with a Blaupunkt Bremen and a Function First shift knob (originals are worn but will be restored in future). The dash will need to be done. There is one of those black glued on dash covers. The shifter is very sloppy so I have an OEM front cup and rear shift coupling ready to go in. It has an Ansa exhaust that is long in the tooth. Borla is ordered and I will try both of those projects at the same time. Excuse the messy garage I just borrow it from 3 toddlers when they let me in. |

I think that is one of my favorite color combos. She looks very nice. By the way you look like a VERY happy owner in that pic next to the headlight, but no offense you look a little um well short. Can you safely see over the dash, and how can you reach the clutch?

The thought of him driving that to school in 16 years amid a parking lot full of EV Volvos keeps me going. What’s that sound? What’s that smell?

beautiful car! That is a very nice color combination. Here's another data point for you - https://www.gatewayclassiccars.com/SCT/863/1978-Porsche-928. A 78, but a nice petrol combination.

Lovely color! We have a well sorted 79 928 5spd, and continue to be surprised by its comfortable ride.
Is the radio stock? This place is expensive, but parts are out there. I bought a radio bezel a few years ago when they were much cheaper. https://928classics.com/preorder-on-select-products/ Last edited by JettandTye; 05-23-2021 at 02:11 PM.. |

I have the stock radio in a box. I was excited to use it but the tape player was a bit
slow and lazy when I tried it. I pulled it (safe in a dry location) and put in the Blaupunkt Bremen so I can use bluetooth or USB to iphone. Stock speakers in the doors. Can’t hear much anyway other than the V8 but it’s nice to have music. The dilemma I’ve been having is how original this car is. Absolute time capsule. I wanted to make it the best driver possible but I will now leave it as original as possible and sell it on instead of making any irreversible changes. Next up is tires. Thinking Michelin Pilot 4 season? |

I might need his tiny hands this week. I'm going to do the exhaust (aging Ansa to new Borla) and the front and rear shifter bushings while I have the exhaust out of the way. Fingers crossed it goes smooth. I will provide updates along the way.

It was a busy summer but I did manage to change out the shifter bushings front and rear and the exhaust. The front cup was a pain as I was warned but got it done with a little heat from a heat gun. The result is fantastic. It's a completely different car. I got new exhaust hangers from FCP Euro and put on the Borla. It really is a great driver now.
