928s project

Hey guys,

I'm looking at buying a 928 as my first project car.

Looks like a 4.7 litre

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/162486964899

I just finished a resto on a 911sc and now have the bug so I guess I wanted to start a thread in regards to what direction I should go.

A lot of people are putting Chevy engines in

Others are turbo charging them and keeping the engine.

My real goal here for a project car was to to get some engine knowledge to disassemble and reco an engine..
I want to paint parts and make sure everything is running Micky mouse
Are these double overhead cams a pita?
I know there's not much space in the front ends reasons for a transplant but these cars are going up somewhat and a cool little sports car allround

My goodness! If it were a Porsche 356 GS/GT, or a Ferrari 250 GTO, I'd say go for it. From those pictures though, it is a roller, and not a very valuable one at that. These cars simply are not worth it to take on that level of restoration. Furthermore, from the Q&A, the seller does not have much knowledge about the car - basic level stuff like CIS vs, L-jet, and whether it's an auto or manual. Good luck getting all those alleged parts that are not shown in the pictures. I would not touch it, even for free, as you will end up having to pay someone to haul it off.
Best bet is to find one in rough shape but all there and running. There are still plenty of deals out there, as these cars are all over the place value wise. Lot's of much better resto platforms.
