Thanks for the update Ron, sounds like she's ready to run sweetly once you get everything back together.

She might be. I have a strong suspicion that I will need to rebuild the fuel distributor. Hoping not, but I fear it is inevitable.

Want to pull and swap two front suspensions and engines and harnesses instead? I'll trade you...

Grin.

Not tappety at all. This engine is really smooth...why you ask?

My 78 is VERY tappety, but that has something to do with filling the block and exhaust full of fuel after a failed fuel distributor rebuild. Let’s just say I can now rebuild a FD 2 ways, right and wrong...

From 12-1-2017:

Well, rebuilt the FD, painstakingly laid out all the old parts, cleaning, and reassembling, reinstalled, cranked her up, she started, and immediately started to pour gas out of the tailpipe, while still running....****...

well, looks like I have to take it apart again....I have gotten too damn good at disassembling these things....I donít know what I ****ed up on this one...maybe pinched an oring.....

sheesh....

Fast forward 7 months....fuel distributor still giving problems. Floods motor out when I try to start no matter how I adjust it. This one will go back on the bench and all apart...again....in the meantime, I have ordered a rebuilt fuel distributor, the price was too good to be true....so, we will see if I got hosed or not...supposed to be here on Thursday.

in the meantime, since I got the white 82 running, and living up on the top of the hill with all the daily drivers, the wife has been pressuring me to get the other car off her patio....so...removed the worn phonies with the flat tires and threw on my boxster wheels....dropped her to the ground, and with a little help, got her FINALLY into the shop and on the lift....with a little luck, this one will be running in a couple weeks.

Yup, she is running quite smoothly, has a nice growl, but there are a few holes in the muffler. She is smoking a little, but I am hoping that it tapers off.
