Will an 87 intake and heads work on 861/2 block?
 

Looking to rebuild an engine. 86 1/2 with no intake, will my intake off of the early 87 work? What about the heads, will my heads bolt up? I am not able to do search right now thanks for the help.

it will depend on what ignition/ injection system you plan on using as the ISV 86 and ICV 87 on operate differently the early block will be missing the knock sensor holes,
though you can tap them,
and the Hall sensor mounting plate at the head you will need a 87 on harness to use the ICV

Hey Merlyn, I’m going to send you a couple pictures of the block. I would use everything I can from my 87. Including the heads and intake.

Save the pain of Frankensteining and buy the right intake, PLENTY of them are around as people buy them to powder coat then do a fast swap.
