What is wrong with the 16 valve engine?
|
I don’t think anything, I was having electrical issues and bad fuel issues. It ran sweetly on starter fluid. Great oil pressure, no bad noises.

looks like a CIS engine?
928 intl, or Greg Brown (both in Anaheim) might give you a few bucks for it. |
Hi, hope you are having a good weekend.
It is post-CIS, LJet actually. Trying to help a fellow Pelican out with it. |
I would keep it until you have passed a smog check with the S4.
4.5 motors get sold for scrap, 4.7 one teeny step up, but after you pass a smog check maybe part it out? |
Good (early) morning. I am with you by am out of space and have the full S4 set up including dual cat set up so I am reasonably confident it will pass.
That, and the thought of taking the S4 engine out and putting this one back in makes my head hurt. I very much DO appreciate the response, not throwing cold water at you. |
Keep in mind it won't be a standard or even star inspection, engine swaps go to the referee station for a much more extensive inspection. The mechanical side of the swap is easy, electrical much more time consuming getting it to work with the rest of the car.
Look at getting an engine cradle. Its a roller stand with the motor close to the floor, which makes it easier to work around. Engines I parted out I kept cams and heads and intake, oil pan, injectors, but not a whole lot else. Ended up giving away the block. |
