Stalling '86.5 - Quick help

Just bought first 86.5 928S, one owner, 41k. Just delivered yesterday. Ran fine, took it this morning to get gas (on reserve) before I started to start the sorting process. Ran fine until after I filled her up. She starts fine, idles smooth but when you give it gas she stalls.

I had hoped to keep her running while I started to sort out the electrical gremlins but oh well.

What should I be checking first ?

Thanks and here we go.

I wonder how long this car has sat? Any maintenance history? Have all the filters been changed? Sounds like it is starving for air or gas or both.

^^^^+1 - could be gas in tank has been in there a while - some sediment in bottom of tank - you stirred it all up when you added gas and now it's clogging something - screen, filter, pump, injectors? - might pull end cap off fuel rail and check flow and pressure - carefully

The car has been driven but not driven much in the last 6 months or so. It needs to be fully sorted which I planned on but mechanically the car seemed like a DD.

I'm inclined to think it's stirred up crap from the tank - eve n the way home from the station she ran fine. Onl started when I went to take her out again.

Before I check fuel rail should I replace filter ?

Check Temp II and MAF

after sitting, she started right up and drove fine again.

Should I be thinking tank cleaning or just change the filter ?

If it is now running OK, I would drive it and run some gas through for some miles. Then put some Techron in the tank and drive again. You may want to put a new gas filter on. There is also a check valve on it that might need to be cleaned. Do the simple things first!
