Upper Window Wedge -

My wife and I just returned home from a great road trip through Arkansas and Missouri. From previous excursions I've learned that when I bring a few tools along and a tire plug kit Miss Purdy always performs perfectly. :) The only minor glitch was that I lost the Triangular Guide or Window Wedge in the upper corner of the driver's door glass. I guess these things must fall out if you stay above Mach I too long.......

Luckily - Stepson had discussed the availability of this part through Roger here on Pelican Parts back a few months ago. Thanks John

usually this forum is filled with posts of the problems of owning a porsche 928 - and it is always a great place to go to for answers - but sometimes it's nice to hear of someone just out enjoying driving their car and i personally would like to see more posts like that - here in colorado there are many great curvy roads to explore - unfortunately it's winter and my exploring in the 928 is limited to trips to the grocery store or lunch somewhere close - great to hear you had a good run in warmer climes - luckily for you that part is both available and about the easiest thing to replace on these cars

Stan (Mrmerlin) posted the very next day after I had replaced one of mine this tip:

(Paraphrased)Since this procedure has to be done with the window down, drape a towel over the window opening of the door to prevent the little screw from falling into the bowels of the door.

Not Stan's fault to be sure, but if he had posted this even one day before, that tiny little screw would not have been able to make the absolute perfect swan dive straight through the window slit and into the bowels of the bottom of my door within the first 5 seconds of my attempt to install the new window wedge.

Thank you anyway Stan. :)

New Window Wedge -

The new driver's side window wedge came in and I got it installed yesterday afternoon- thanks Roger. As recommended, a towel was spread over the lowered window to keep the mounting sheet metal screw from accidentally falling down inside the door. Although it IS a very simple installation - I still almost lost that silly screw ----- twice. :)

One more project checked off my to-do list.

Michael
