windshield washer fuse?

hi - so my windshield washer on the 84 doesn't work although it did about a month ago - i have no power to the pump when wiper stalk is pulled back - i'm thinking fuse or relay..? - odd thing though is i can't find either on the "map" of relays and fuses that i have (both from online and in my owners manual) - i see fuses for intensive washer and headlight washer at positions 6 and 20 - and relays for those two at positions XV and VII - so where is the fuse and relay for the regular windshield washer? - is it tied in with fuse 6 with the wipers (which work fine)? - or is it in with the intermittent wiper relay? - thanks for the help ..again

Check fuses 6 and 20. Both should be 16 amp fuses. 6 is associated with the wipers. 20 is associated with headlight washers.

Relay VII is for headlight washers (928.618.111.00)
Relay XV is for the Intensive Washers (928.618.113.01)
Since they are specific relays and not generic, you would just need to verify that they are operational

ok - stupid me - i thought i had the probes of my multimeter in the back of the pump connector far enough to register but evidently i did not - so there was actually power to the pump when stalk was pulled - turns out it was the pump - the pump is actually 2 pieces screwed together - one is the motor and the other is the actual gear pumping assembly - what was wrong with mine was the coupling between the two had rusted away - so while the motor is still operable and the pump is still operable the coupling won't connect the two - luckily i had a spare one in the basement so it's all good now - this pump is a real pain to get out and in - i found it much easier to work from underneath the car - it looked like i was really doing something big since i had the wheel off, the inner fender liner removed, car was on jacks - no one would have guessed it was all to fix the washer - anyway if your interested the number 6 fuse is the one that powers the pump as well as the wipers - funny they don't have it marked anywhere in the manuals

Good to know. I figured it was one or the other, but thought it best to give you the options.

I love factory 84 wiring diagrams Hard enough to cipher when they have wire colors. lol
