Left over parts - keep / sell / toss?

Hi guys - happy Friday.

I just got done, with loads of help from Greg Brown, putting an '88 S4 engine, suspension and brakes on to my 1984 928s. The 1984 928s had around 95,000 miles on it and standard engine and 5 speed, SoCal car that I got running on ether before I tore it apart to do the S4 build.

I have loads of parts left over that I want to move along but not sure what people would find useful. 928 used part market is wildly different that the 911 bits I am used to trading.'

In no particular order here are the bits, just looking for your thoughts on if there is demand;

-full back exhaust in bolt-on condition
-'84 cat with o2 sensor
-84 adiator
-mechanical fan from '84
-electric A/C fan from '84
-working steering rack from '84 (looks like a replacement one)
-84 manual trans flywheel (needs to be resurfaced)
-S4 electrical panel (worked)
-MAF from the '84 (worked)
-Two ECU boxes for the '84, both tested
-heat shielding
-wheel arch plastic covers
-'88 A/C compressor (worked)
-'88 S4 auto transmission cooler
-Core 'S4 seats (drive quality with on tear on side)
-Core '84 seats (have lighter 911 Sport Seats going in)

Some of this stuff is pretty bulky, like the exhaust, so local pick-up in SoCal is probably required like probably limits the market.

Not trying to get rich on anything.

If you don't think there is a market for some of these bits (like '84 belt driven fan) then I'll start tossing bits.

Thanks in advance for the level set.

Only thing not much demand for are the 84 brains, they rarely fail, but somebody might want them anyway as a spare and they are small enough to ship.

Not a bad rule of thumb on prices is to look up the part at 928intl, and aim for around 25% of their normal prices (they have an annual half price sale and offer a 1 yr warranty), so about half of their lowest price is a start, some less, some more (like items they don't have any of).

i got the same thing going on - sure someone will eventually need everything i got - but how long do i want to keep them around - especially the large parts (rear bumpers, trannys) - so i'm probably going to dump them

Hi - thanks for the note back, bummer you are experiencing the same thing.

I loath throwing away usable things but I need my storage space back...

TDSkip,

Was the 84 a Euro? That is to say, a twin dizzy with LH/EZF? and a real MAF (not a barn door). If so, yeah, I'd be interested in those.

Also, I'd like some pictures of the '88 seats.

Thanks in advance

Timely post. I was just getting ready to poke you about those pictures. No worries, though.

Stan, Let me check my bag of tricks for one of those. I'll let you know.

928 int'l might give you a few bucks for the whole lot.

...what happened to the '84 engine?
I *might* have a use for the heads/cam housings off it.

Seats need a cleaning and had boxes sitting on them - seat bolsters are actually fine.

That said - they are rougher than I remembered.

I took these photos to make them look as bad as possible so if you actually bug them you'll be happier than expected.

Will let them go cheap (or fairly priced in other words).

Engine went away, tried to find a home for it first. Sorry

Seems that finding homes for stray parts is a matter of finding the right person in need of those particular set of parts. It always seems to happen that parts are sent away/trashed/discarded almost always just before the right person in need is found.

Case in point: Sean R had S4 heads that he kept forever for a just in case scenario. He discarded them a week before I saw his post about discarding them if no one wanted them. Dammit!

Many times we want a fair price for years, then make a fast decision that things have to go now, and the rest of us don't pay close enough attention to catch the window.
