Radiator fans not turning on

Took the 951 out for a Sunday drive yesterday and everything was fine until I got stuck in some heavy traffic. Temp gauge started to shoot up and I realized that the radiator fans were not running. Pulled off and let the car cool off before nursing it home. I'm going to check Clark's for info but I thought I'd throw it out here to see if anyone has some suggestions on what to check first.

Thanks! - John

Test fan thermoswitch in pot of water you bring to boil.
Measure temp where switch closes.
If not, then it's bad.

Also test fans & circuit by manually connecting thermoswitch connector.
Does fans go on?

Do they come on with the A/C switched on? They should. If they do then it's likely the radiator fan switch.

Some people try to turn back their "odometers." Not me. I want people to know 'why' I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.

Also check the cooling fan resistors. The wires typically corrode and fall apart, in the engine compartment near the battery under the windshield.

+1 on the ac switch test, a good trick is to turn the ac on so you can limp home when the car is overheating.

Thanks for the tips but it has ac delete. Will the switch test still work then? Also going to pull the fan relay from the S2 and try it in the 951.

i think the switch will still work if it's still wired up.
