A/C Compressor oil

Anybody know the amount and type of oil that should be added to a new a/c compressor? Mine is being delivered with shipping oil only and needs to be drained and reserviced before installation.

Some people try to turn back their "odometers." Not me. I want people to know 'why' I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.

From my other posting to you:

Generally 3-4 ounces, add some oil to both ports, one at a time, and rotate the clutch to push the oil into the compressor body. Repeat until you have added all the oil.

Best to drain the new compressor and measure the amount of oil, then replace with the amount of the type you will be using.

If you are staying with R12, use mineral oil.

If you are charging with R134a then use POE since it is compatible with mineral oil as opposed to PAG.

It's confusing since the new compressor is designated for r134 only and when I looked at a listing of all the Denso compressors (except 2) specified PAG oil. It's being delivered with only a little oil in it for shipment and needs to be drained and refilled with the proper oil. I'm still trying to get the company I purchased it from to be forthcoming about what manufacturer and model it is and the recommended oil type and quantity they recommend.

Most compressors are shipped with PAG. If you are installing the compressor in a previous R12 system and have not replaced all of the components, then use POE because it is miscible with the mineral oil left in the R12 system.

Be sure to ALWAYS replace the receiver-drier for best results. Add about 3 ounces of POE oil to it before installing.
