Let's try that again. The original message didn't post
Alright, so this summer I'm going to get serious about the HP upgrade in my car. I'm planning on a test pipe and chip for starters. What recommendations do any of you have for chips? I haven't been looking for a few years and I don't know if anything new or better than say Weltmeister or Autothority has presented itself in the meantime.

Just get the gurus, $300 including a reliaboost, 3bar fuel pressure regulator, and wastegate shims. Can't beat that!

HIghboost, thanks for the info, That doesn't sound bad at all! How about performance? I've tried looking for some info on the web but I could'nt find anything. Do they have a web site?

Oh ferchrissakes! Not even three seconds after hitting submit on the last one I found their site. If you have any more info though I'd still apreciate it. E.g. how do their performance claims match up?

I installed the Guru Chip Kit after removing my APE SII (Autothority) chips. The Guru chips were far superior to the APE setup, so if you have a stock vehicle, the difference will be amazing to you. Well worth every penny and then some - the quoted gains are real and you cant do it for much cheaper. No affiliation, I was just blown away by their product and customer support.

That's what I wanted to know. Customer testimonials are worth their weight in gold to me. Looks like I'll give 'em a try. Let me know if there is anything you think I should watch out for during the install or first few runs. Thanks!!
BTW. looks almost like we're duplicating the other thread

Ronin, go with Guru's. Everyone is impressed and would choose them regardless of price considerations.

That pretty much seems to be the consensus. Only thing is that things have changed a bit since I made that post and I'm looking to buy a house and the car went on the back burner so to speak. I should be making the purchase later this summer though.

Regardless of priorities, what's $300 bucks? You'll regret not putting the chips in sooner, seriously. A set of chips in a stock car will bring your car to life. If you think it's fast now, just wait until you add some chips! A true 50HP gain!

Ronin, how about this... I'll offer a money-back guarantee! So far, no one has sent them back yet!

that sounds good! I'll be in touch with you. One question though, I'm not really sure as to the performance specs for just the chip upgrade. What numbers will my 2.5 951 engine (220 stock) deliver after the chip upgrade?

I might be wrong, but I would venture:
Porsche did not want to run as much boost as the perf. chips do in the interest of engine/transmission longevity. The question that would be much harder to answer would be how much faster would key components wear out with the perf chip vs. stock. Without a doubt, the vehicle is stout enough to take boost increases (to a point) but still, the obvious thing to even a mechanically-challenged guy like me is that increasing stress through boost without beefing up the internals to compensate would mean faster wear. That being said, I bought my car with Weltmeister Chip in it, and it makes the car quick. The question is, do you feel lucky- punk? (I don't) |
