Turbo Upgrade
I am in touch with a turbo shop (MJM Turbos) about upgrading the original K26 turbo to the larger K27 (new impellers and housings.
Has anyone done this? Is the upgrade worth the $$ ? Has anyone dealt with this vendor? Help! ![]()

K27/6 is a great combo you can get 300rwhp from it...
You will need new chips for it as well, and a MAF would be ideal.

DannoXYZ,
What octante fuel do you put in it to run that kind of boost?

I would go for a K27/8 (like what Danno is running) before going to a K27-6.

"What octante fuel do you put in it to run that kind of boost?"
We used a 50/50 mix of 91-oct. pump gas and 100-oct. race-gas. So it's about 96-octane effective. The 2-degree retarded-ignition setting on the chip would have allowed using 91-octane at that boost as well. I'm also currently testing out a K26/6 with wastegate-mod that allows 25-30psi of boost (20psi @ 2500rpm). The key to tuning these things is being able to adjust timing in minute increments. Sometimes, I make adjustments in just 1/3rd of a degree. |
