I just pulled my 951 out of storage for after a couple of years. It started up great with new gas in the tank and ran to warm up sounding good after the lifters pumped up.
I took it for a drive and about 10 miles later the lifters really started to clatter. I shut it off and got it back to home with a friend. I remember reading somewhere about a similar problem and wanted to say it had something to do with a check valve. I suspect that they are referring to the oil by-pass check valve on the water/oil heat exchanger on the passenger side of the engine block. "Could a faulty oil filter cause it?" a friend asked. I said I know it has a relief valve in it, but I don't think that it could be that. The only other thing that I could think of is the little valve seat, spring and ball in the cylinder head. That is a chronic problem in 928's with lifter noise. Seems to have great oil pressure while running 4-5 bar. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

This is not uncommon with 944 when they set a long time, I would keep an eye on your oil presure and keep driving it. In my past experince it will stop ticking, It just take a while.
