I plan on throwing some 17"s on my 87 944 Turbo. Has any1 else done this and had to mod. there fenders or wheel wells or anything that that? And also wut size tires they got on, like 245 35R or 40R?

Ghirt,
You should have no problem doing this; I run 3 sets of 18s on my '88 Turbo S (225s & 265s for rain tires and 245s and 275s for Hoosiers). Just watch your offsets and overal tire diameters & widths - this link may help you out: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html. Good luck. |

Ghirt,
I run 275/35/18s and 245/35/18s currently on my car - it has been lowered but the fenders have not been rolled & I have no clearance or rubbing issues at all. Cheers, Rick |

Wait a minute here. Rick has an 88TS, same as me. That car came with rolled fenders. The seams are rolled up and tight in a "U". Not the old baseball bat trick.
So, Ghirt, you need to be a little more carefull as the '87 didn't come with factory rolled seems. I'm not sure how much this has been discussed on Pelican, but it has been beaten to death over on Rennlist. I'd go over there and search the archives so you know your alternatives prior to buying the wheels and tires. And I think Danno did a writeup on his RacerX site all about the options. Don't rush a purchase as there is a LOT written up on this that you should be able to gather in a day or two. |
