actual mileage
wondering if the computer in a 1988 or 1989 turbo record mileage like some vehicles d. I am considering several cars and would llike to be able to verify the odometer if it is possible. Also if this is possible does OTC or Kent Moore or someone offer the Scan Tool to be able to read the numbers. Thanks

I beliebe the odometer mechanism is mechanical internal to the speedo head. and does not sent or set any reference to the dme/ecu. the best resource is to check " carfax" review serice reords look for mileage erros. Old school; make sure the numbers line up. Worse case pop the cluster out and make sure it has not been tampered with. On the back circut panel some of the screws are painted. Have to remove them to get to the odom.

The odo gear fails so often in later 944s that chances are every car you see has somewhat higher mileage than shown on the odo.
