Hatch release?? and fan switch problem

Hi all,

There is a switch on the before the hood release. Is this the hatch release? If so, mine is not functioning. What are common problems with this switch?

Also, my fan only works on setting 4. Does Porsche parts place carry this type of item or do I buy the whole panel?

Thanks,

Check the blower thermostat. It is mounted on the blower housing. It's the thing with the resistors. There are thermostats inside of the thing that get gummed up.

Check previous posts on this.

Yes the switch next to the hood release is the hatch release. Push the button and listen carefully and you will hear the motor activate when you hit the button if its working. If you hear nothing, check the motor/wiring. It is located behind the carpet at the very rear of the car.

I have found that the motor typically continues to work, but the hatch release mechanism gets gummed up, corrodes.

I will second what's been said.

If the motor doesn't work, check the connection by the motor for corrosion, and fuse for the hatch release. If it works but does not "open" the hatch (it's not really designed to do that actually, just unlock), the lock mechanism or the hatch catches may be out of adjustment.

If the hatch motor works, the 'cam' may be broken, that happened to me just a short time ago. It's a cheap part ($12?), easy fix, but you have to crawl to the rear and manually open the hatch. You should be able to turn the key in the back and watch the motor spin the 'cam' (or what's left of it). I suppose that turning the key in the rear would also help you figure out if it's the front switch.
