What is the best Roll Cage?
I'm looking at a 944 S2 which I will be using exclusively for DEs. I want to install the BEST roll cage. The car will have driver and passenger seat. Am I correct in believing that a full welded in cage is best?
Recommendations for brand, name - and possible installer in the NY metro area? Thanx. David |

The best roll cage is one that never has to be used!

If you want a pre-bent one. The Autopower is nice. I have the "U-Weld" cage with the racing roll bar. You should be able to have someone put this in for you at a nominal fee. I welded mine in my self and it was very time consuming. The cutting and fish-mouthing took alot of time.
If you plan on racing, check the Rules of the sanctioning body on the types of cages you can use. Some allow for smaller tube than others and some require different cages based on the class you run in.

If your interested I'm currently producing custom built cages, pieces pre-bent and coped ready to weld to your mounting plates.
Price will be very competitive for what your getting. Whatever you do put a lot of thought into what your going to do with the car, cause it's pretty much a one shot deal. Weld in will be best if properly designed. |

Glen!
Welcome to the board! Glen and I used to dice it up together on the autocross track, and have spent a few days chasing each other around in circles at Pacific Raceways with the PCA. He's a great guy. I'm now autocrossing in a different class (for some reason when you swap in bigger engines they don't let you stay in the stock class) and road race my little 944NA. My cage was custom welded by a local guy who had done several SCCA 944s prior to mine. If I needed a cage today, I'd have no problem trusting Glen's workmanship. |
