Oil in KLR
I FINALLY get to enjoy the full boost on my 86 951! The fix was replacing the KLR computer. Here's where I need advice....
Upon disconnecting the boost line from the KLR I noticed an oily substance in the hole to the klr. I turned it up and several drops ran out. It was clear, and fairly slick. It was almost too clean to be motor oil. I started the car with the line disconnected to clear out any residual oil. Installed new klr and life is good. Any guesses on whether the oil will return? The car doesn't really burn much oil (at least no blue smoke) and gets 2000mi to a quart. Most due to a few leaks, I'm sure. Also, I'm guessing my old KLR could be cleaned and used. |

did you smell the oil? could have been oil from turbo blow-by into the intake. is it possible it was fuel?

It didn't smell like fuel. I considered turbo blowby, but it was almost too clean to be 1500 mile motor oil. So far so good on the new KLR. I'm going to stop thinking about it and enjoy the boost.
I'm installing accuboost and reflex BOV this weekend. Chips to follow... |

OK, new BOV allows me to blow thru it. Orig Bosch does not. Does anyone have the Reflex BOV and does it function different than Bosch? I can't imagine so, but I also cant imagine a brand new valve behaving that much differently....

you should not be able to blow through a good bov using your mouth, unless you can generate +20psi of pressure orally...
