951 1000 budget Upgrades?

Alright guys, I've done some searching on the forums for old topics in regards to chip upgrades, rebuilding turbos, and even making it a 2.8 liter race engine.

I like what everybody has said but I'm stuck because I have roughly a $1000 budget for a stock 951 that I would like to add as much HP as possible. I'm willing to splurge a litte more if the gain dollar per gain is much better.

I was thinking chips and exhaust?

Chips

Weltmeister
Powerchip
Giac
Autothority
etc..

Exhaust
Borla
etc.

ALL SUGGESTION WELCOME!!!

heard good things about the vitesse maf /chip and you can get an exhaust made at a shop cheap but it really isnt a huge restriction at lower powers irrc

Just to let you all know we already have the turbo pulled out to replace a seal for an oil leak.

if you already have the turbo out, just get a garrett ceramic ball bearing turbo and chips to match. otherwise, you'll end up paying for the same work twice if you're planning to upgrade in the future.

The reason I started this post is because i had a mechanic tell me for a $1000 he could get me to 320+ HP. It sounded like he was blowing smoke up my butt, but i watned to see if that was about right and how would he do it?

320+ for $1K is a joke. for your money, get a vitesse maf kit. the kit costs $1250 + you'll need injectors(apprx. $350) + a 3bar fpr($60). This will be the best bang for your buck, PLUS you'll be set with any other mods you will do later. This is perfect for beginners because this is the BEST foundation for any 951. Vitesse is the ONLY company that offers motronic sequential fuel injection. it is incredible what his MAF chip/board can do. I know this is a little more than you want to spend, but if this is your eventual route, don't waste your money on anything else. TRUST ME!

your 'mechanic' might just be planning to turn up the boost, which will get you the HP but also eventually blow your motor.

i'd find a different mechanic.

i think i could do it for that budget and so could a few people but i would just go jap afc plus airflow metre big exhust what exactly did the mechanic sujjest .
give him a chance .

confident that my car would be around 320 hp it will turn the pilot sport 255 tyes as it gets full boost in third . it would be close to coming in under budget but hard to price as my motor was apart so there has been repairs (head off) but in upgrades i'd say i'm easy under the 1000 us but i do all the playing
