86 Turbo: sunroof help needed?

In the past year, I had some auto body work done on my 86 Turbo.
The sunroof worked fine at that time.

Just before they delivered the car, there was a huge rain storm and they apparently left the windows open, so the floor of the car was saturated.
To the shop's credit, they pulled out all the carpets, seats, etc. to properly dry everything out.

The sunroof was working for about 2 weeks afterwards. Then the electronics stopped working. I could still hear a little noise when I pressed the sunroof button.

My mechanic could not figure out how to repair and has locked the roof in the closed position for now.

Where can I turn for help? My brother in law, a mechanic in Mass., already changed the gears overhead before I bought the car from him.

Car has approx. 150K miles on it.

I live in the White Plains area above NYC. Rennwerkes is a local porsche shop nearby, but I once had a bad experience with them.

What do you suggest I do?
