Driver side mirror

I was wondering if any one has had to change out there drivers side mirror. If so how do i go about it. I cant figure out how to get the mirror apart to make the connections in there and i really dont want to cut and splice the wires unless that is the only way. Any help would be nice
Thx Dblank

what part of the mirror do you need to change? if you mean the whole assembly that is attatched to the door there is a way to do it but you have to take great care and label the wires that come out of the wire connection. for some strange reason the connection is on the mirror side of the small hole that goes through the mirror base. the quick and dirty way is to cut and splice. the long, proper, and complicated way is to remove each wire from the connector and put it back in the new mirror.

if you need any additional help let me know!

ok, to remove the glass you will have to look underneath the mirror assembly. there is a little hole there, you will need to use a screwdriver to loosen the retaining ring for the mirror. there is a more complicated description of how to do that on the clarks garage website. once the ring is off, the mirror will come out and hang by the two mirror heater wires. you can take it off, and proceed to remove the 3 bolts that hold the black piece on to the metal frame. after that is out you will be able to see the connection that you will have to dissect in order to complete the job.

Just a heads-up, the Molex plug removal tool for getting the wires out of the plug connector can be difficult to find.

you mean, it's not kosher just to use a narrow punch or awl or something of the like? (it's been awhile since i took the any of these apart, and i don't remember exactly what i used)

let us know how it goes, and more importantly, post pictures!
