instrument cluster layout

does anyone know the layout of the instrument cluster in regards to wiring. my speedo works, all the other guages work, yet my odometer and trip meter quit.... they cluster was out of the car a few weeks ago, and wonder if the wiring harness came loose. i know there were two of them connected and like i mentioned everything else works. saying the car only went 2 miles since it stopped im not to worried, but does anyone know which harness controls the odometer

Thank you

Jeff

Even though the speedo on your car is electronic the odometer is mechanical. It is driven by a gear which engages a worm gear to drive the odometer. This gear can slid along it's shaft and disengage from the worm gear, or is worn/ broken. You will have to pull the speedo out and have a look.

saying ive never had a problem with it, and to think about it for a sec it has 18 years on it, but it only has 93,000 miles of actual spinning if its mechanical. it has to be from when it came out of the car the last time

you made me think, thanks for your response

200k plus on mine the speedo/odometer work fine..
Iirc some times the reset button gets hung half way. Push it a couple of times (with car stopped) see if it works. Porsche does not recommend doing that with the car moving, but I have had mine stick once 10 years ago I think and I taped it while moving (The reset button) It started working again.
