some worries

Im just curious.. you seem to know these cars pretty well...

how do i find out if i am going to end up with a bad rod bearing..etc...

does this just happen all of a sudden.. or is there some warnings.. signs etc..

as well, wondering about ruining the cylinders... does this just happen?

i read about these common issues all the time.. is there preventative maintenance?

Oil is changed all the time... all the work on the whole car is documented since purchase date, babied garaged and driven...

only issue i have right now that i am concerned about is the half compression on cylinder 1, due to exhaust valve, either burned or bad spring. But thats another story.

Any help would be appreciated!!

Rod bearings are more likely troublesome on cars that see track use (high G turns). But not unheard of for street cars also. Best thing to do is take a sample of motor oil from the engine while changing it and send it out to be analyzed. Costs about $35-40 and they will give a break down of everything that is inside of the oil. High levels of tin, lead and copper are likely bearings which are starting to break down. Usually problems will develop and get bad very quickly. Early warning signs are oil pressure problems.

Not much that can be done about cylinders other than running in a good state of tune. Running excessively rich will cause fuel wash
