O2 sensor problems

For the 944 Turbo (86): can anyone confirm that there should not be continuity between the black wire on the O2 sensor and the frame (ground)? I'm not getting a reading on my new O2 sensor. The wiring itself is not grounded, but when the DME is plugged back in, an ohm meter zeroes out, indicating a ground where I'm pretty sure there shouldn't be one.

Secondly, can anyone confirm that the white wires on the Bosch 3-wire O2 sensor carry 0V and 12V, and with them disconnected the O2 sensor will work, but only properly after the car has warmed up?

Thanks for your help!

It will work without heater wires hooked up but not real well as the heat transfer is un even from the exhaust (the placement of the sensor is the cause)

Does this connector just pull apart?

way to resurrect an old thread. :)

there is a protruding tab on the sensor that lines up and engages with a corresponding hairpin-style clip on the car side. the clip is plastic and usually breaks with age so i've seen owners zip-tie the connector to hold it in place. it looks like sox has a broken clip. :) an arrow points to the tab on the sensor photo here:
