Engine smoke.. engine cuts out in 1st gear

I have white smoke comming from passenger side of the engine.. The engine cuts out for a second when I am starting to accelerate in 1st gear.

I am taking it to a tech in the morning, should I be okay to drive the 15miles to the shop? Also, any ideas on what it could be would be helpful.

Thanks!

I found the oil drip. I dont know exactly where its comming from though. The white smoke stops after about 10 min of running.

check the cam cover gasket, especially in the rear area by the firewall. it's a common location for failure.

Is this a serious problem? And, is this the reason for my engine to be cutting out in 1st gear?

is it a serious problem? read this thread;
engine fire ! damn !

and this thread;
fireproof fuel sleeves for fuel lines

1st gear cutout sounds unrelated.

first make sure that's where the oil is leaking from.
