What next mod would net the most hp?

Hello, my 87T has a Lindsey boost enhancer, 3bar regulator, weltmeister chip, 3" exhaust without cat, flowed injectors (I know that isn't worth much but a previous owner bothered) though I think they are originals, shimmed wastegate to go with the weltmeister chip. Otherwise I believe it to be stock. I am looking for a healthy bump in HP and was thinking it might be time to go with a new turbo or turbo and MAF. What will give me the biggest bang for my buck? Can I just do the turbo or do I really need to do the MAF as well? Will I need bigger injectors? Should I get a new chip? New wastegate? Thanks in advance for suggestions.

either maf or map will get you an easy +30whp by removing the intake restriction. between the two, i believe map is a better setup than maf. either is superior to the stock afm setup, however.

if you start changing things around, you will have to either keep paying for a new chip each time you change something, or you will need the ability to change the tune yourself. piggyback tuning is one method. the method i took was a standalone engine management system.

you can read about afm vs. map/maf here;

Well Nize has pretty much covered it. Really you need to be able to boost more and hold it at higher rpms so that pretty much means a larger turbo (assuming you have a stock one?) and the ability to control boost ,timing, and fuel. There are little steps which you just wind up selling for a loss and then there is standalone. You should save up for standalone if you can.
Also, if it's the car in your signature then to make it faster on the track you need to look elsewhere apart from hp. Handling and brakes + tracktime will make you much quicker than an extra 50hp.

Thanks guys, it sounds like a larger turbo and an maf are the way to go. Could I call AWE or GIAC or someone and tell them what the setup would be and let them make me some chips or would that be more difficult/expensive? I am a reasonably intelligent person but I am not sure I want to work on the tuning myself. On the other hand if it is not difficult and if I am unlikely to blow up my engine I might enjoy it - Nize it looks like you have cheap access to a dyno which would make things much more interesting. As for the suspension, the car might be done for now as it is as lowered and stiffened as I can stand for the drive to and from the track - I have upgraded springs/charley arms/alignment/corner balance/r-compounds etc. I have come to grips with the fact that I may be a DE guy but I am not going to race, so I just want to have fun and I think at this point more hp might equal more fun on street and track. The next mod is probably Hoosiers on 18" rims and brakes but it is time to start thinking about the engine. If there is an easy way to increase hp by opening up the intake that would be cool.

i don't have 'cheap access to a dyno', i pay $75 each time i want to test something on the dyno. :) it adds up but i like knowing things for sure.
