Question Dead Turbo Coolant Pump?

Hi guys,

I think I have a dead turbo coolant pump. Can someone confirm I have done the trouble shooting correctly?

1. Checked 7.5 amp fuse, OK. Replaced with a fresh one just in case.

2. Grounded coolant temperature sensor on top of turbo. Pump did not run. However, I could hear the relay click, then click again after about 30 seconds.

3. Ran 12 volts direct from batter to pump. Pump did not run.

So, my guess is the pump is dead but the relay is OK?

Turbo Pump repair

Running 12 volts directly to it pretty much means it is bad. Some have been able to breathe new life into one by dissasembling it and freeing up the bearings.

Gook luck,

Lou

That's what I figured. I have a new one on the way, hopefully that will solve the problem.

I installed the new pump last night, all went well, problem solved! Thanks for the help guys, I just missed out on the cheap Mercedes alternative, that would have been great. Oh well, 20 years from now when I need to replace it again I'll remember that.
